Dualitea: Corporate Shero vs. Desperate Housewife teapot satirizes the dual roles of contemporary women, who are killing themselves softly, crushing their lives beneath the wheel of their expectations.

The heart-shaped teapot depicts the woman as a professional “shero,” clad in the standard attire preferred by the male-dominated corporate culture, a pinstriped business suit, a blue shirt, a red necktie, and a golden house pin.

On the opposite side of the teapot, another facet of her personality emerges as a desperate housewife. Here she dons a red apron. Inside the large pocket are the objects that codify her life of endless domestic duties.

This semiotic interpretation looks at how American’s suffer from the acquisition of more things, a core principle of the American Dream.

Living with less is more.
