In 2007, instead of an artist's statement, I wrote these words in real gold, which I melted on “Sustained Beauty.”

We must follow nature’s rules, where growth is good.

We must create sustainable art and design that produces more energy than consumed.

We must build a profitable, sustainable economy that works with nature,
not against it.

We must discover new ways to use waste,
to produce energy,
to motivate profit,

and ultimately improve the world.

We can do it,
if artists join leaders,
and leaders include artists
